The United States recently conducted an airstrike in Somalia targeting ISIS-affiliated groups as part of its anti-terror operations.
U.S. military leadership highlighted the strategic importance of these operations to prevent threats to the homeland and allied nations.
Over 124 coordinated strikes were carried out by the U.S. Africa Command in collaboration with Somali forces last year to combat ISIS-Somalia and al-Shabab militants, Africom deputy Commander said.
Strategic gains include reclaiming significant territories in Somalia and diminishing the organizational capability of insurgents.
His interview with Fox news he said that US is interesting Somalia’s natural resources like liquified natural gas LNG, John Brennan said.
