Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud recently visited Egypt to boost bilateral relations between Cairo and Mogadishu.
He also visited the camp prepared for the Egyptian army contingent that will be part of the AUSSOM operation currently underway in Somalia, while he was in Cairo.
The President was accompanied by the Defense Minister, the Egyptian army chief, and other officials.
The Egyptian forces arriving in Somalia include air force personnel with fighter jets that carry out air attacks, as well as AT-802U Air Tractor surveillance aircraft.
The forces are also bringing Mi-24 combat helicopters, and Mi-17 helicopters for various operational roles.
