​Somalia’s multiple security forces conducted coordinated operations against militants in Lower Shabelle region.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was part of this successful operation, which took place on April 18, 2026, at approximately 9:00 AM. Special Counter-Terrorism forces destroyed a checkpoint and a center where extremists extorted from civilians using the road in the Jambalul area.
The new offence named Waberi, leads elimination of one leader named Zakariye, while two others one of them named Hassan injured.
Also security forces seized materials used terrorists including invoices, and an AK47 rifle.
​This operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the Somali Police Force, specifically the Counter-Terrorism Command, to respond to public grievances regarding the illegal extortion and harassment of civilians by extremist groups.
