AUSSOM Sector 1 welcomed UPDF Battle Group XLVII into the mission area. The Contingent Commander, Brig. Gen. Jackson Kayanja, briefed the troops on the operational environment, urging alertness, discipline, and mission readiness.
He emphasised unity across all units, reminding the troops that they operate as one force under AUSSOM, and encouraged them to uphold the Pan-African spirit in supporting Somali-led peace efforts.
Sector 1 Deputy Commander, Col. Francis Aragamoi Obita, cautioned against the misuse of social media to protect operational security. Contingent Military Information Officer, Lt. Col. Jean Rukira, warned that Al-Shabaab remains a threat and called for constant vigilance.
AUSSOM and the Somali National Armed Forces (SNAF) continue joint efforts to degrade Al-Shabaab and support lasting peace in Somalia.
