The Somali government has dispatched a high-level delegation to Turkiye, including the ministers of defense and ports, amid talks centered on the signing of military base agreements.
The discussions are focused on securing a strategic location sought by Turkiye at a key maritime junction linking the Indian Ocean, the Gulf of Aden, and the Bab el-Mandeb.
Sources close to the deal believe that the new Türkiye military base will be Lasqoray coastal city of Sanaag Region, close to Berbera Port where UAE and Israel are actively working.
Türkiye is expanding its influence in Africa, specifically Somalia where both parties previously signed several agreements.
