Senior officers from Turkish Special Operations Police (Özel Harekat) arrived in Mogadishu on Monday and held high-level talks with Somali Police Commissioner Gen. Asad Abdullahi Osman, in a visit highlighting deepening security cooperation between Turkiye and Somalia.

The delegation met with senior Somali police leadership, including the commander of the Turkish-trained elite Haramcad Special Police Unit, one of Somalia’s most capable counterterrorism forces. The unit, trained and equipped under Turkish standards, has become a key force in operations targeting militant groups and is regarded as among the best-trained and best-equipped formations within the Somali Police Force.

Discussions between Commissioner Asad and the Turkish delegation focused on strengthening bilateral security cooperation, with particular emphasis on expanding advanced training programs and enhancing the operational capacity of Somalia’s police forces, especially the elite Haramcad unit, as both countries continue to deepen strategic security ties.
