Somali National Army SNA Land Forces Commander Brigadier General Sahal Abdullahi Omar, has visited the Xananbuure Military Training Centre in Galgaduud region during an official visit to areas in Galmudug State.
The visit comes as Somalia prepares to deploy newly trained troops to areas previously vacated by African Union forces, particularly Ugandan troops, as part of efforts to strengthen security and expand the Somali National Army’s presence across the country.
Gen Sahal recently announced that the Federal Government of Somalia is ready to take security responsibilities from the foreign troops helping the Government in the past 20 years.
Uganda announced it is withdrawing its forces from Somalia within days after nearly 20 years in Somalia.
