AUSSOM Force Commander Lt Gen Sam Kavuma hosted the Burundian Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, Lt Gen Habimana Jean Paul at Force HQs.
They discussed the security situation in Somalia, AUSSOM’s mandate, & strategies to counter the Al-Shabaab threat.
Lt Gen Kavuma commended the bravery & dedication of Burundi National Defence Force BNDF troops in Sector 5, while Lt Gen Habimana reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Mission and stabilisation efforts.
As the second country to deploy troops to Somalia after Uganda, Burundi remains a key AUSSOM Troop-Contributing Country.
