The Second Deputy Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, Mr. Abdullahi Omar Abshiraw, chaired yesterday meeting of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the House of the People.
The meeting discussed the decision of the permanent committee to conduct a thorough investigation and follow-up on an issue concerning Somali citizens living abroad who were forcibly returned to the country.
The committee ultimately decided to send a letter regarding this matter to the relevant ministries and agencies.
The Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the House of the People, MP Mohamed Jama Mursal Geelle, stated that they will liaise with the concerned ministries and agencies on this matter.
This conveys the parliamentary oversight and planned actions regarding forced return of Somali citizens from abroad.
