Maersk Suspends Cargo Bookings from/ to Berbera.

Share

Maersk said on April 20 that it would temporarily suspend accepting new bookings to and from the Port of Berbera in Somalia’s Somaliland, citing scheduling changes.

The company said the halt would take effect immediately and would apply to all new cargo bookings involving Berbera.

Shipments already in transit, it added, would continue to their final destinations as planned.

In a notice to customers, Maersk acknowledged that some clients rely on its Berbera call as a regional gateway, including for trade routes connecting to neighboring Ethiopia.

During the suspension, the company said it would maintain services to Djibouti, Mogadishu and Mombasa to help preserve logistics links across East Africa.

Maersk advised customers seeking access to Berbera to contact company representatives to explore alternative inland transport options. It said further updates would be provided as the situation evolves.
