The lawmakers from both houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia held a joint meeting today and approved the National Budget for the year 2026, amounting to $1,386,807,242.
It was approved by 174 lawmakers, four lawmakers voted against it, and one lawmaker abstained.
The budget reflects a slight increase from the previous year’s $1.359 billion, aimed at funding development projects, job creation, and social services.
Joint sessions began with first reading on November 15, 2025, followed by second reading debates on December 21 with 169 lawmakers present.
The final approval occurred today, December 23, 2025.
