Somalia denies Turkey struck SNA forces

Share

The office of the National security of Somalia’s Government denies recent claimed saying Turkish drones struck SNA troops nea Leego Town in Lower Shabelle region.

Statement from the office said.

The claims that Turkish F-16 fighter aircraft or armed drones struck Somali National Army (SNA) positions in Leego on 26 October 2026 are false and misleading. The federal government of Somalia (FGS) rejects these reports; and at no point were SNA forces mistakenly targeted by Turkish aircraft or drones.

The longstanding partnership between Somalia and Türkiye remains strong and continues to focus on combating terrorism, strengthening national security and restoring lasting peace.

We urge media organisations, social media users and the public to rely on verified information and refrain from spreading unsubstantiated claims and misinformed judgements that could undermine public confidence and the morale of the security forces.

The Federal Government remains committed to transparency, accountability and the protection of the Somali people.
