The Minister of Defence of the Federal Republic of Somalia, HE Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, who is on an official visit to Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, held a sideline meeting with the Minister of Defence Industry of the Republic of Azerbaijan, HE Vugar Mustafayev, during the World Defense Show 2026.
The meeting took place building upon the defence cooperation agreement signed between the two countries in February 2024, which laid the foundation for strengthening collaboration in the fields of defence and defence industries.
The two Ministers discussed the implementation of the provisions of that agreement, particularly cooperation in defence industries.
The Somali delegation was provided with a comprehensive briefing on Azerbaijan’s production capacity and defence equipment showcased at the exhibition in Riyadh.
Minister Fiqi underscored the importance of Somalia benefiting from Azerbaijan’s experience in the defence industry sector in order to support the modernisation, equipping, and overall development of the Somali National Army’s capabilities.
