Turkiye’s ambassador to Somalia has received in Mogadishu the Deputy President of the Northeastern State of Somalia, Abdirashid Yusuf Jibril, and Federal MP Mahmoud Ahmed Adan Geesood.
Both officials are from the strategic coastal town of Laasqoray, an area where Turkiye has shown interest in establishing a military facility.
Regional authorities have also reportedly expressed support for the proposed development.
Laasqoray is considered a key location due to its position linking the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean, and the Gulf of Aden.
