Turkish Ministry of National Defense said As part of the Somalia Maritime Task Group, frigates TCG Gökçeada and TCG Yıldırım are heading to Mogadishu, escorting the fishing vessel “Mustafa Korkmaz A,” which will conduct exploratory and trial fishing in Somalia’s exclusive economic zone.
The project aims to develop Somalia’s fishing sector through Türkiye–Somalia cooperation.
There is SOMTURK company which was established recently to develop Somalia’s fishing sector and export to international markets.
Türkiye is also an agreement with Somalia relating Maritime security and anti-piracy operations in Somalia waters.
